Technology Modernization

Modernize Without Starting Over

Most organizations don't need to throw away everything they have. We modernize existing applications and platforms incrementally, reducing technical debt and operating cost as we go.

A rewrite postpones all of its value to the end and puts the whole investment at risk for the duration. Incremental modernization delivers each improvement as it lands, and the application stays deployable throughout.

Why Incremental

A rewrite postpones all of its value to the end

And while it is in progress you are paying for two systems, because the original still has to be maintained and every business change has to be made twice. That second cost is the one that routinely gets left out of the estimate.

  • Incremental modernization
  • Rewrite

A schematic comparison of two modernization approaches, plotting value delivered against time with no numeric scale. Incremental modernization rises as a staircase: each step is a change that shipped and began paying back, so value accumulates from early on and never drops. A rewrite stays flat along the bottom for most of the timeline — during which the old system still has to be maintained and every business change has to be made twice — and then rises steeply to the same end point at cut-over. Both approaches reach a similar final position; the difference is that one delivers value throughout and the other holds the entire investment at risk until the end.

Illustrative, not measured — there is no scale on either axis. The shape is the argument: a rewrite delivers nothing until it is finished, and until then the original system still has to be maintained.

Technology Modernization

Modernize Without Starting Over

Most organizations don't need to throw away everything they have.

We help modernize existing applications and platforms incrementally — reducing technical debt, improving performance, lowering operating costs, and creating a foundation for AI.

Legacy Application Modernization

Incrementally modernize aging applications so they cost less to run and maintain, without a disruptive rewrite.

.NET Modernization

Move .NET Framework applications onto modern, supported runtimes with lower licensing and maintenance overhead.

API Modernization

Replace brittle point-to-point interfaces with well-designed APIs that are cheaper to integrate against and extend.

Cloud Migration

Move workloads to the cloud with a plan built around business risk and cost, not a lift-and-shift default.

Cloud Optimization

Right-size infrastructure, remove waste, and restructure architectures that quietly inflate the monthly cloud bill.

Application Architecture

Design application architectures that match the business problem, the team, and the operating budget.

Database Modernization

Modernize data stores to improve performance, reduce licensing cost, and support analytics and AI workloads.

Microservices Where Appropriate

Apply service decomposition only where it earns its operational cost — and say so plainly when it does not.

Monolith Modernization

Improve and restructure existing monoliths in place, which is frequently the lower-risk and lower-cost path.

Integration Modernization

Simplify fragmented integrations to reduce operational overhead and the cost of every future change.

Security Modernization

Bring authentication, authorization, and platform security up to current standards as part of modernization.

DevOps Modernization

Modernize build, deployment, and operational tooling so releases are faster, safer, and less labor-intensive.

Why a rewrite is usually the most expensive option

Replacing a legacy application is the option most teams reach for and the one that most often overruns. What incremental modernization does differently, and when a rewrite genuinely is the right call.
